Adhesion promoter (tape primer) · OEM / ODM source factory

Adhesion promoter for double-sided tape — bond to the hard-to-stick.

A clear liquid primer that pre-treats low-surface-energy and rough surfaces — PP, PE, TPO, rubber, powder-coat, galvanized metal and concrete — so our acrylic double-sided tapes grip 3–5× harder and won’t lift in heat, sun or weather.

The difference between holds and falls off.

Some surfaces fight adhesive: low-surface-energy plastics like PP and PE, rubber and TPO, powder-coated paint, galvanized metal and porous concrete. A thin coat of adhesion promoter changes the surface chemistry so the tape can wet out and grip — typically 3–5× the bond, with far less edge-lift in heat and weather.

It also speeds up green strength so lines move faster, and it adds water-, UV- and temperature-resistance for outdoor and automotive use. Use it with our acrylic foam (high-bond) tapes, clear acrylic double-sided tapes and die-cut pads.

3–5× stronger bondPre-treats LSE and rough surfaces so the adhesive wets out and grips — far less lift in heat, sun and weather.
Faster line speedBuilds initial tack quickly and shortens dwell time, so assembly and bonding move faster.

How to use

Four steps to a permanent bond.

A primer only works if it’s applied thin and given time to flash off. Clean, prime, dry, bond — four steps that turn a hard-to-stick surface into a permanent bond.

01 · Clean — wipe with alcohol to remove dust, oil and wax; let it dry fully
02 · Prime — brush or spray a thin, even coat (don’t pool it); swab for small areas, brush / spray for large
03 · Dry — leave 1–5 minutes until clear and tack-free to the touch
04 · Bond — apply the double-sided tape, press firmly, then let it cure ~24 h before loading
Where it’s used

Applications.

Automotive exterior

Emblems, trim, seals and roof racks — primed for heat and weather, paint-safe.

Painted & powder-coated metal

Prep for powder-coat and painted panels so tape won’t peel at the edges.

Plastics — PP / PE / ABS / TPO

Turns low-surface-energy plastics into a surface acrylic tape can grip.

Rubber & EPDM seals

Bonds rubber gaskets and EPDM seals that bare adhesive won’t hold.

Signage & acrylic letters

Light boxes, acrylic letters and PVC trim — primed for outdoor longevity.

Galvanized & rough metal

Improves grip on zinc-coated and textured metal surfaces.

Concrete & masonry

Seals porous, dusty walls so mounts and fixtures stay put.

Electronics pre-assembly

Primes parts before die-cut pads — low-corrosion, plastics-safe grades.

Choose the right primer

Three things that decide which grade.

01 · Surface

What are you bonding to?

Low-surface-energy plastics (PP / PE / TPO), rubber and EPDM, powder-coat, galvanized metal and concrete benefit most. Clean, smooth metal or glass often needs no primer.

02 · Environment

Indoor, outdoor or cold?

Use a solvent grade for maximum outdoor grip, a low-odour alcohol grade for indoor and sub-zero installs, and a low-VOC grade for automotive lines.

03 · Process & QC

Manual or automated?

Brush-cap bottles suit field and DIY; spray or roller suits production. Choose a UV-traceable grade when QC must verify full coverage on the line.

Buyer FAQ

Adhesion promoter questions.

The things buyers ask before ordering. Don’t see yours? Send it with your spec.

What’s your MOQ for a custom / private-label primer?
It’s low for a source factory and depends on pack size and whether it’s private-label — tell us the grade, pack and target quantity and we’ll confirm MOQ with your quote.
Can I get free samples first?
Yes. We ship free samples so you can test the primer with your tape on your own surfaces before committing — request them with your substrate and tape details.
Which surfaces actually need a primer?
Low-surface-energy plastics (PP, PE, TPO), rubber and EPDM, powder-coated paint, galvanized metal and porous concrete benefit most. Clean, smooth metal, glass and many rigid plastics usually bond well without one.
How much does it improve adhesion?
On hard-to-bond surfaces it typically raises the bond 3–5× and greatly reduces edge-lift in heat, sun and weather. The exact gain depends on the surface and tape — we’ll help you test it.
How do I apply it?
Clean the surface with alcohol, brush or spray a thin even coat of primer (don’t pool it), let it dry 1–5 minutes until clear and tack-free, then apply the tape and press firmly. Let it cure about 24 hours before loading.
Solvent or low-odour / low-VOC — which?
Solvent grades give the strongest grip and fastest outdoor performance; low-VOC grades suit automotive lines; alcohol-based low-odour grades are best indoors, in cold weather and where smell matters.
Will it damage paint or plastics?
Our automotive and low-odour grades are formulated to be safe on car paint and plastic parts when used as directed. For sensitive substrates, tell us the material and we’ll match a compatible grade.
Do you have a UV-traceable, low-VOC or halogen-free grade for export?
Yes — a UV-traceable grade fluoresces for QC coverage checks, and we offer low-VOC and halogen-free options that meet common export requirements. Tell us your market’s rules.
What pack sizes do you offer?
From 10 / 30 ml brush-cap bottles for field and DIY, to 946 ml bottles and 1-gallon drums for production — plus pre-saturated wipes for portable, waste-free use.
Does it work in the cold?
The alcohol-based low-temperature grade still builds tack below 0 °C, which suits cold-climate and winter installations.
How should it be stored, and is it flammable?
Solvent grades are flammable — keep them tightly capped, cool and away from ignition, and apply with ventilation per the SDS. Store within the stated shelf life; we provide the SDS with every order.
What information should I send to get a recommendation?
Tell us the surface(s) you’re bonding, whether it’s indoor / outdoor / cold, manual or automated application, which tape you’re using, the pack size and the quantity. With that we’ll recommend a grade, send free samples and quote.
